Hi everyone! It's Brooke, former sales associate at Vestique CHS and current creative intern in the warehouse (I'm obviously a little obsessed with Vestique). I had the awesome opportunity to assist Adair, our brand director, in our first ever Lowcountry shoot. I'm sure you've seen the amazing pictures from the Charleston lookbook, and if you haven't you're totally missing out. BUT, today I'm going to let you in on the good stuff - the behind the scenes.
Here I am, rocking the Coachella Fever Denim Jacket (it's one of my favorite items right now)
First of all, I can't even begin to explain how much fun it was being able to help create a lookbook from my own (and favorite) city, but I'll try my best to show you!
So, first stop was Sullivans Island, and if you've never been you need to go ASAP. We found a local farmers market that was going on near us, so of course, we stopped and snagged some ice cream (which was SO good!) Did I mention how hot it was?? The ice cream ended up being a lifesaver! After exploring the area a bit, we headed down to the beach to shoot our newest collection to Vestique - SWIMSUITS! I don't know about y'all but my jaw dropped and I almost cried (tears of joy!) when I heard we were going to carry swim.
Day 2: Morning
Adair and I woke up at about 6am to get prepped for the 8am shoot. Steaming and styling (after loading up on carbs from the complimentary hotel breakfast - tip: always take advantage of this). Now, I am not a morning person so when she said 6am, my heart stopped a little... but it was well worth it because the photos turned out to be just perfect!!
Can you guess our next stop?? Shem Creek! Watching the sun rise gave us new life (so did the 8 cups of coffee we'd consumed). We shot right outside of Tavern & Table, which is my mom's favorite restaurant in Charleston. Having a cocktail while watching the boats roll in is about as good as it gets.
Day 3: Late Afternoon
After lunch, we headed downtown to get some shots with historic homes and College of Charleston as our backdrop. Downtown Charleston is just beautiful in itself, which made it easy to find places to shoot. If you have never been to visit the College of Charleston campus, you are missing out, it is the most beautiful campus I have ever been to (I may be a little bias... but *shrugs*). Sometimes, I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming that I actually got to school here!
My favorite part had to be the bikes... mainly because I had always been scared to ride through the downtown district. Can you blame me? Think horses, cars, and crazy drivers. Thankfully, I was able to overcome that fear by having the responsibility of driving all the bikes to and from the bike shop. The whole crew had loads of fun riding them around the college campus. Maybe a little too much fun...
We loved every minute of creating this lookbook and hope you have been obsessing over it as much as we have!
