Spring Wedding Style Guide

Oh You Fancy, Huh?

{Shine without outshining the Bride with our top picks for wedding season}

Whether you like it or not, wedding season is already upon us and in full swing. Regardless if you’re going to one or twenty-seven weddings this season {or if you’re the bride, we’re sending love to you too!}, we’re going to make sure you’re fully prepared for the entire event.

Grab a pen and take notes, we’re dishing out the best dresses for each occasion AND a few tips to make sure you’re following all the rules of perfect wedding etiquette.

For Our Favorite Bride
If you’re a bride-to-be, or even if you’re just anticipating {hey, we’re not judging}, we want to make sure you’re ready for that perfect photo-op moment. Be cool and casual but ready for anything in our Meet me at the Altar Dress.” Perfect for bachelorette parties or engagement pictures, dress it up with a statement necklace and wedges or down with gladiators and a wrap necklace.

Rules to Remember: If you’re going to rock white for your engagement photos, make sure to dress it up with colorful jewels, shoes, or even a kimono. Color always does better in print!

“To all the Ladies in the Place with Style and Grace…”

See you at 6pm!
This is always a great invitation to open, a wedding after 6 p.m means too-tall heels and a dress you probably have to spend half your paycheck on just to fit in with the crowd. Fear Not! Evening weddings, as long as they’re not Black Tie, are easy to navigate with simple and classic silhouettes. We recommend our best-selling Hearts Ablaze Dress in blush or black paired with pumps {leave the wedges at home} and a statement clutch for an appropriate guest outfit under $100.

Rules to Remember: Weddings after 6 are typically strictly cocktail so make sure you pay attention to any dress code verbiage on the invitation. If you’re unsure of what to wear, play it safe! Pick a dress that can easily transition from day to night.

It's a Shore Thing
If you’re heading to the coast for a beach wedding this summer, pack our favorite Maui Wowie Dress. Perfect to pair with flat sandals, if you don’t want to struggle with wedges on the beach, with earrings and a cuff.

Rules to Remember: Beach weddings don’t necessarily mean casual, so talk with friends going to the wedding to see what the venue is like. Regardless of where you are, pack an emergency kit in case the wind and heat ruin your perfect up-do.

NYC State of Mind
If the wedding ends up being under the city lights, get excited! This is your chance to be bold and daring with your outfit choices. Pair a classic LBD with killer shoes and a bold clutch. Pick a trendy ensemble like our Pop, Fizz, Clink Dress in black or nude, its mock neckline and trendy pleats will be the perfect combination for a city wedding.

Rules to Remember: Don’t get in the photographers way! In many cases with city weddings, space is very limited and there are more bodies than there probably should be. Err on the side of caution when it comes to taking pictures while they’re trying to capture the ceremony.

Garden Party
These are typically the easiest of any wedding to dress for. Garden parties are where you can flaunt a colorful frock without being too overbearing, but just in case we would leave that highlighter-yellow dress at home. Our stylists suggest a subtle print with a trendy silhouette that will pair perfectly with wedges or pumps. Pair our Bring Home Flowers Dresswith strappy wedges or heeled sandals.

Rules to Remember: Garden venues make for beautiful weddings in the spring and summer! However the grass isn’t so nice to your shoes, so be aware of sinking heels during the ceremony if you opt to wear pumps or heeled sandals. Wear a pair you don’t mind getting dirty, or opt for flats during the ceremony and heels for the reception.
