The Hit List: Caroline’s Trish McEvoy Makeup Review

One of my secret obsessions in life is experimenting with make up, especially with different brands and types of foundation! Who doesn’t crave a perfect matte photo shoot ready finish? I have tried everything from Revlon to Dior, and the latest product that has sparked my curiosity is the “Trish McEvoy Beauty Balm Instant Solutions," or BB Cream.

For those of you who are not familiar with Trish McEvoy, let me give you a brief history on her company. She is the makeup artist behind celebrities like Angelina Jolie, and come on who doesn’t want her complexion? She started her company at the age of 25 and by the time she was 30 her company was worth millions. Eventually she partnered with her renowned dermatologist hubby and has changed the world of beauty products ever since. On top of everything else, her company is still independently owned by her. She is an inspiration to all of us ‘tique ladies! Currently her makeup is only sold in high end department stores like Nordstrom, Saks and Lord and Taylor. After reading her backstory I knew I had to try her products so, BB cream it is!

The BeautyBalm Instant Solutions preforms seven functions for your face. It primes, brightens, evens, hydrates, controls oils, retextures your skin, and protects with its SPF 35. For all of you who are constantly worried about how all the extra nonsense in products effects your skin overtime, her products are noncomedogenic, dermatologist- tested, and paraben/fragrance-free! The BB cream can be worn alone or under foundation to give it that extra velvety finish. After researching her brand, I drove 100 miles an hour to the nearest Nordstrom to scoop this baby up! Sounds like a dream come true right?

Not necessarily.

After a week of trying her product I have decided that the Beauty Balm Instant Solutions is not for me. Although the application was gorgeous, this product did not give me the coverage I wanted for the price I paid. In the winter I need a little more coverage for blemishes (and how pale we all are), which this product didn't give. However, I think it would work great for someone who likes a light coverage for their foundation, especially in the summer when it's too hot to wear multiple layers of makeup. Although this product wasn’t right for me, I am still going to try some of Trish’s other products, especially her other foundation and eye makeup! If you're like me and love trying new products, here's my break down of Trish's BB Cream.

  • Pros
