Oscar Party

Oscar Party

87th Academy Awards
February 22nd
7pm (but let's be real we start watching the red carpet hours before this)

EEEK who is ready for this year's Oscars?! I have got to say that it is definitely one of my favorite awards shows. I can't wait to for all the fabulous attire, acceptance speeches, and of course Neil Patrick Harris (he's the host this year in case you have been hibernating). My sister and I always love to watch it together and no matter where or who we are with we try and make it into a little party. Whether you go all-out, watch it with your girlfriends, or your party consists of you and the cat, the ideas below will help make sure it is successful and fantabulous!

 Red Carpet looks from 2014

What All the Fuss is About

-some actors nominated are: Bradley Cooper, Michael Keaton, Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore, Ethan Hawke and Emma Stone but there are many more as well
-Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Ansel Elgort, Nicole Kidman, Liam Neeson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Channing Tatum will be presenters
-Neil Patrick Harris is going to be the best host ever

Channel your inner Wolfgang Puck here

Quick and Easy Apps:
small bites and lots of options are always a good go-to, even better if they are easy to make. Appetizers are always a great idea because there will be something for everyone.
Make the crowd "appy"

Oscar Themed:
Really like getting into the theme of things? Try Cheese & Cracker Tuxedos, Oscar-shaped Cookies, or Steak Oscar.

Get your Oscar buzz on. Champagne is a fabulous for any occasion especially if there are gorgeous gowns involved. Oscar cocktails (below), mocktails, or red "carpet" wine are also good choices!

The decor feel should be classy but still lots of fun! Just like the Oscars.

- black, gold and white
-your own red carpet!
-gold stars and glitter

-make your own Oscars (Ken doll style)
-dressed up champagne flutes
-awards show drink charms
-photobooth with props

gosh these guys make me laugh.

Who doesn't love a little competition or something to entertain you when someone's speech lasts too long? These games are the perfect addition to your party and are sure to get everyone involved.

Oscar Ballot Printable:
Have everyone fill out who they think will win before the show starts! Place some bets if you are feeling lucky!

Red Carpet Bingo or Rate the Red Carpet:
Let's be real, one of the best parts about an awards show is the red carpet!

Acceptance Speech Fill-in:
Like Mad-libs for awards shows!

**And just a little fact to impress all your friends: The Oscar statuette weighes 6.75 lbs and is 13.5 inches tall**

I hope everyone enjoys the Oscars this year -- no matter how your choose to watch!
