Sweet as a Georgia Peach

Last weekend I threw a baby shower for my childhood best friend, Mary. And if I must say so myself, it was quite the soiree. Much to my dismay, Mary and her husband now live in Atlanta.  While I hate that it takes me 4 hours to get to them, her current location lent itself to a fabulous shower theme...Sweet as a Georgia Peach!

We held the party at a restaurant in Chapel Hill, which is close to where we grew up in Durham. It had all the necessities: a baby, brunch and bubbly--lots of bubbly (none for the mama-to-be, of course).

Here are a few snapshots of Mary's {& Margaret's} special day.

Mary's sweet mama made her that bassinet and in lieu of cards, each guest was asked to bring a book for the baby's reading nook. Instead of buying a generic book, Mary's mom created a photo book for baby Margaret. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room upon reading it.

I die over that newborn headband. Of course, I had to get vestique colors--teal and coral!

Those outfits were all worn by Mary herself during her first year of life. Her family had preserved them for 30 years! We strung them next to pictures of Mary wearing them--it was adorable!

I think it's safe to say baby Margaret is very loved. The gifts were all so special. One of my personal favorites were the newborn Uggs. I can only imagine how cute her little feet will look in those.

It's Freeman family tradition to hold hands and circle up for prayer. It was a beautiful thing to pray over Mary and Margaret with a room full of women who love them both so much!

Each guest left with handmade peach soap as a thank you for showering Mary with so much love.

Mary and I have been inseparable since the first day of 6th grade. That's a long time! We've seen each other through some of the happiest and hardest times in life. I have to say, this was one of the best days we've spent together.

I gave her that vestique maxi for her 30th birthday back in August and she saved it to wear to the shower. It looked adorable on her bump! Sorry, we're sold out of it now though. 🙁

I got so many compliments on my outfit that I will definitely be recycling it. I wore the Make a Statement Romper in Garnet with the Great Lengths Kimono over it.

These girls make my world go round. After 18 years together, it doesn't take much to make us all burst into laughter. I'm glad this moment was caught on camera.
Hope you enjoyed a little glimpse of my Saturday! Sometimes I wish life had a rewind button.
