tiqueing and wine tasting

I got the opportunity to celebrate my 30th birthday on Labor Day and to make it special, we went wine tasting in the Yadkin Valley of North Carolina. Something I highly recommend should you ever get the chance.

On the trip down, I kept it classy and comfortable in the Simplistic Stunner Romper. We still have this one available in Navy and I can confirm this can be dressed up or down easily and is SO comfortable!

We fit in quite a few stops but still didn't even scratch the surface of the amount of wineries available to visit along the trail. We stayed at Childress Vineyards in Lexington, NC. They have a hotel on the property and the staff is awesome and goes out of their way to make you as comfortable as possible.

On Friday night, we checked out a local restaurant called Chef Dion Sprenkle. While the name may sound odd, the food was excellent. There was a special 5-course bacon tasting menu available... um, YES!! TIP: it's a dry county so if you want a little wine with dinner, be sure to bring it and they will open for you. The whole menu was awesome but honestly the 2 things that were the most memorable were the appetizer, Goat Cheese stuffed Dates wrapped in Bacon with Balsamic reduction (sounds iffy, but TRUST ME) and then Dark Chocolate covered Bacon Candy for dessert. Worth the splurge! I'll endure any amount of exercise for another chance at that!!
For dinner, I wore the Set the Bar Maxi in Teal. It was a great, memorable night out. I dressed up this maxi with some nude wedges and the Oval You necklace but it can be easily dressed down with a pair of flat sandals. We've only got one left of this maxi so grab it before it's gone! If you like this dress, you should also check out our Queen of the Empire in Mint and Speaking Greek in Teal... both on SALE!

On Saturday, we kicked things off at Weathervane Winery. Super cute winery and they offer tours! There was actually a wedding planned for later in the afternoon, only wish we were able to make it back in time, the setting was GORGEOUS! I got TONS of compliments on my dress, I was wearing the Last Dance Dress in Navy (sorry 🙁 all sold out in Navy) with the All Gold Everything Necklace -- my go to necklace, LOVE IT! Love this dress? No worries, we have Last Dance Dress in Plum and Black and you might also like our When Our Paths Cross in Royal (only 1 left!) or our Cloud 9 Dress in Navy
After Weathervane, we hit up several wineries including Rag Apple Lassie and Shelton Vineyards. If you hit up Shelton, do the tour, it's worth it! One thing that was rather cool, was the barrel room where you could also see the barrels that were "adopted"... a program that Shelton offers. There was a bachelorette party happening at Rag Apple Lassie and those ladies were definitely having a great time... if you're considering ideas for a friend, that's certainly a fun idea. If that's too far... we've hosted bachelorette parties at the Vestique stores! A little champagne, cupcakes and shopping... what could be better?!

At another stop on the way, we made friends with the "winery dogs" at Grassy Creek Vineyards. Grassy Creek used to be a dairy farm and kept the memory by using milk bottles to bottle some of their wine. Too cute!
We ended the day at Laurel Gray Vineyards, one that kept getting recommended by all the locals. Ladies, love chocolate and red wine? You HAVE to try the Encore wine there... AMAZING!! You may be thinking that's a lot of wineries to hit in one day. My hubby was awesome enough to be the DD for me on my birthday... I know, he's a keeper ;).

We got up on Sunday to travel back to town to see the rest of the family for the holiday weekend, but not before grabbing a quick lunch at The Bistro at Childress. This place is a hot spot and I would recommend reservations, for good reason... it was amazing food and service.

I wore the Dainty Doily Top with some cutoffs for something dressed up but also comfortable in the heat. We no longer have the top in white, but it is currently available in Nude and is one of my favorite tops. I get TONS of compliments everywhere I wear it.
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend with fun and family! We'd love to hear your favorite going out outfits... share how you tique!
