Nick and I headed South to Charleston this weekend to celebrate the marriage of Vance and Amanda. Nick and Vance met at ECU and have been good friends ever since.
We got in to town on Friday with about 2 hours to spare before the rehearsal dinner so we headed to the waterfront bar next to our hotel. I NEED TO LIVE IN A PLACE LIKE THIS. I swear I was a mermaid, or at least a starfish in my past life. I love the beach, the sound, hell—any place where there’s water and sunshine. We enjoyed a cocktail and watched the boats come in one after another for happy hour.
After that, Nick went to the rehearsal at the church and we met back up at the rehearsal dinner at Boone Hall Plantation. WOW. What a picturesque setting for an event!
We shucked oysters, ate bbq and listened to beautiful toasts given by members of Vance and Amanda’s families. Afterwards, the groomsmen decided to to let us in on their secret singing talents and took to the mic.
It was memorable to say the least. The night ended at a swanky lounge in downtown Charleston.
Saturday morning, we got up and Nick headed to the groomsmen’s lunch while I headed to the pool. Like I said, give me water and sun and I’m a happy camper. Nick came back and treated me to a giant bloody mary (he sure knows the way to my heart). We got ready for the wedding and headed to the church for the beautiful ceremony.
Then it was off to party the night away at Lighthouse on the Creek, conveniently located just a stone’s throw from our hotel, right on the water. The boys sang, guests danced and good times were had by all. Amanda looked absolutely stunning.
We slept in today and headed to downtown Charleston for an authentic Low Country brunch at Amen Street, a proper send off to a fabulous weekend.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
